Organic potato day in Riga to celebrate European cooperation

 In order to raise awareness about healthy foods and introduce the benefits of eating organically grown potatoes, the Potato Day in Rīga will be organised on September 22. The event will take place at Berga Bazārs Farmers Market from 10:00 – 14:00. Riga residents and visitors are very welcome! 

You will have a possibility to learn more about different potato varieties suitable for organic farming, as well as get free consultations on potato growing from Priekuļi Plant Breeding Institute experts, to taste potato varieties and learn about the differences, as well as get information on the production of potato starch, try the process yourself and taste deserts made of potato starch. The competitions and chance to get prizes will make this day even more interesting both for children and adults. 

A similar event will take place in Palamusel, Estonia on the same day, where the project representatives will demonstrate the benefits of organically grown potatoes in the agriculture exhibit.

European Cooperation Day which will be marked on September 21 for the first time, is designed to celebrate the success of European Territorial Cooperation and tell more people about the benefits of this kind of cooperation for local communities and individuals, especially in the regions. More information about European Cooperation Day events throughout Europe:
